Our Story
Cantonese cuisine, or more accurately, Guangdong cuisine refers to the cuisine of the Guandong Province of China, including Hong Kong. Kenny Chen immigrated to the US with his family from Hong Kong, bringing tried and true family recipes with him. Years later, he and his family opened Hong Kong House in Sacramento to share his special recipes with the local community, emphasizing the natural flavor of the ingredients in each dish–a hallmark of Cantonese cuisine.
One day, Hong Kong House regular, James, was dining and started chatting with the owner Chen. Knowing he would be unable to continue operating the restaurant in his old age, Chen offered to train Son in the kitchen for the next few years in preparation to sell him the business.
Today, James and his family continue to work to recreate Chen’s popular Cantonese dishes for his local community in Sacramento.
